Vorarlberg’s industry grew and flourished partly due to the development by rail. No wonder, then, that Vorarlberg’s railroad anniversaries are celebrated in the Ländle. 150 years ago, the first railroad was completed in Vorarlberg. This is one reason why we can now hold a small philatelic exhibition in the Bludenz town hall under the motto “Railways in Vorarlberg and elsewhere”. The exhibition will be opened on 11.10. at 6 pm with a vernissage in the town hall – everyone who wants is cordially invited.
The exhibition will include the three exhibits that we were already able to show in Feldkirch earlier this month: The Vorarlberg Railway – Flora on the Railway Embankment – Railway Medicine.
This time, there will also be an exhibit on the use of the railroad to escape persecution during the Third Reich, an exhibit on the special history and difficult conditions on the Arlberg Railway (with old newspaper clippings), an exhibit on shipping on Lake Constance, which only really took off with the railroad, and much more – such as a comparison of views of Vorarlberg on old postcards with today’s images of towns and landscapes. And we will show that philately does not have to be boring with an exhibit describing unusual stamps. So until November 22, there is something for everyone to see.
We would be pleased if you would visit the exhibition or if we could welcome you at the vernissage.
