In my search for the cover of the month, I did not travel back in time this time. I was fascinated by the fact that Liechtenstein issued Christmas stamps with Christmas baubles as a motif again this year. The stamps are beautifully traditional in terms of the motifs on the baubles: cosy motifs reminiscent of the old Christmas spirit. The stars and the edge of the stamp also shine and sparkle in gold. This series contrasts with the Christmas baubles issued in 2020, which were very modern.
In 1997, there was also a Christmas series with “Christmas tree baubles”. Not really baubles, but Christmas tree decorations made of glass in various shapes. This series also had its charm. It is now up to you to decide which Christmas tree decoration is the most beautiful.
I’m already curious to see what the next series of Christmas tree decorations would look like. Perhaps another traditional Christmas tree with “edible” decorations like in 2008, or a series with different Christmas trees, in all different colours, beautifully colourful, or, or, or…… As I said, I’m already very excited.
And for those who still haven’t had enough of Christmas baubles: other countries also had them as a Christmas motif. I found the one from France interesting because it had a scratch-off field. All you had to do was scratch off the golden area of the stamp to reveal a code and log on to the laposte.fr/voeux website after 14 November to register and find out whether you had won one of the 2040 gifts up for grabs.
