Stamp Chaos with a Hint of Chocolate – We Were Back at the Bludenz Community Days!

Taubencollage

They say third time’s the charm – and once again, we enthusiastically took part in this year’s Bludenz Community Days. The fun kicked off in the afternoon, and 32 little bundles of energy aged 5 to 8 dove into our program like there was treasure to be found.
(Spoiler: There was – during Bingo. Especially a nervous breakdown for the adults.)

As always, we relied on our tried-and-true classics:

1. Stamp Collage Making

Collagenkleben

A big box of old stamps, glue, paper, and kids full of creative ideas – the perfect recipe for colorful chaos. There was cheerful cutting, gluing, stacking, and stamping. Sometimes even the table got decorated. Or someone’s pants. Never mind – that’s artistic freedom!

2. A Story with Stamps

Geschichten mit Briefmarken

For a short break (and to spare our furniture), we told a story – naturally starring stamps in the lead role. The kids listened intently and asked clever questions, like:

“What’s a telegram?”,
“Why does this stamp smell like chocolate?”,
and, “Are there stamps that smell like French fries?”

Honestly, the postal service should take notes.
Scented stamp requests from the under-eight crowd: Chocolate, gummy bears, pizza… and (no joke): tractor.

3. The Grand Finale: Stamp Bingo

Then came the big moment – one that shattered all decibel records: Stamp Bingo!
Each card featured 16 randomly selected stamps (dog, cat, mouse, hedgehog, lighthouse, ship – you name it), and off they went.
The kids played in teams. The yelling? Unstoppable.

“BINGO!!!”
“I GOT IT! I GOT IT!!!”
“NOOO, YOU MARKED THE WRONG ONE!”

By the end, I was hoarse, Clemens was on the brink of madness, and the supervisors had their hands clamped over their ears for self-preservation. Conclusion: Lots of noise. Lots of fun. Lots learned.

And most importantly: Now 32 kids once again know what a stamp is – and how much fun it can be.

Our Traveling Exhibition Travels On

While we rest our vocal cords, our traveling exhibition has also continued its journey – back to the Bludenz hospital.

This time, it’s set up in a well-frequented corridor between the hospital and the retirement home – right on the path taken by nicotine-dependent patients heading out for some “fresh” air. A location with great circulation – in the lungs, and hopefully in terms of cultural interest too. We’re curious to see if anyone stops to take a look at the stamps, maybe even cracks a smile – or better yet, feels inspired to write a letter. With a chocolate-scented stamp. Or one that smells like… tractor.
