Soccer Summer in Red and White

EM der Frauen - Fussball 2025

The excitement knows no bounds: Switzerland’s women’s national soccer team has just qualified for the quarterfinals of a European Championship for the very first time – and it happened on home soil, no less. What a start to a summer that is much more than just a sporting event: it’s a national celebration, a stage for heroines, and a powerful sign of how far women’s soccer has come in Switzerland.Bogen

On July 2, 2025, the 14th UEFA Women’s European Championship kicked off at St. Jakob Park in Basel. A total of 31 matches will be played in eight cities – besides Basel also in Bern, Zurich, Geneva, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Thun, and Sion. This marks the first time that Switzerland has hosted a women’s soccer tournament of this magnitude – a significant milestone for the sport across the country.

Participating teams include the defending champions from England, the current world champions from Spain – and of course, the host nation: Switzerland’s women’s national team. As hosts, the team was automatically qualified, but by reaching the quarterfinals, they have gone far beyond their basic duties and made a strong sporting statement.

A Stamp That Joins the Game: The Official EM 2025 Stamp

Ball nicht im Tor

To mark the occasion, Swiss Post has released a creative special edition stamp that delights on multiple levels. Its standout feature is a die-cut football that can be popped out of the stamp. Whether stuck in the top corner of an envelope or aimed at the top right of an imaginary goal – this ball is meant to be played with. The stamp is not just a collectible, but a playful statement for fans.

More Than Postage: A Symbol of Equality

This stamp is more than a piece of postage. It’s a tribute, a symbol of change – and an invitation to be part of history. Using it means celebrating not only the sport itself but also the people who made this moment possible.
