For the occasion, this time a stamp as cover of the month.
Just before Christmas, I acted rashly and failed to show my close friends the respect they deserve. It wasn’t a dramatic incident, but a series of small mistakes: approaching them rudely, interrupting their thoughts, dismissing their concerns and not accepting them for who they are. At first I didn’t notice the effects of my behavior, but gradually I began to feel uneasy. I wondered whether they still trusted me and whether I had strained our friendship in any way.
This experience brought me an important realization: peace, whether internal or in relationships, is fragile and requires constant attention to maintain. It cannot be taken for granted and should not be taken for granted. This insight also fits into a larger theme that affects us all. In view of the numerous conflicts around the world, the need for peace is becoming ever clearer. But peace is not just a global goal, it starts in everyday life. It is the small, conscious actions – how we treat each other, how we listen and show respect.
The Liechtenstein stamp, which was issued on 4 March 2023 by Michèle Steffen-Goop, carefully summarizes this concept. At the center of the stamp is a dove of peace, which appears as the eye of a face depicted in profile. This depiction encourages us to see peace not only as an external goal, but also as an inner attitude. The dove symbolizes the hope for harmony in the world, while its position as an “eye” encourages reflection and mindfulness. In soft watercolor tones of white and blue, the stamp emphasizes the fragility and simplicity of peace. This stamp reminds us that peace begins with each and every one of us. It manifests itself in our actions, thoughts and dealings with others.

Friendship – Sign language
Fortunately, my friends have shown me understanding. They have shown me that peace in relationships includes forgiveness. Their willingness to accept my mistakes has strengthened our bond and highlighted for me the importance of mutual respect and care. In a world full of challenges, we should all think about how we can contribute to peace – not only globally, but also in our closest relationships. Peace is a shared responsibility that is worth nurturing.
